Terminology
- Semidivine
- a human-like entity of magic owing homage and patronage to a Divinity. There are two categories of Semidivine: Sorcerer and Soothsayer. A Semidivine is besworn to do the will of his or her Divine Patron and is at the mercy of that Patron’s rule. Immune to aging, they are mistakenly called immortal, though they can be killed. Each Semidivine has his or her own symbolic color, power stone, and range of duties.
- Demidivine
- a non mortal entity rarely human in form and capable of assuming different forms. The Demidivine serves mostly as a means of communication between Divinity and Semidivine. Sometimes (but rarely) called Muses, they specialize in a particular aspect of a Divinity’s domain. An example is Epona, who is a specialized servant of the Trinity.
- Divinity
- (when used as a noun) also called a Divine Patron, a Patron, or (rarely) Pantheolic Face, this is a manifestion of divine energy into an entity that rules a particular aspect or element of the natural or arcane worlds. Most commonly referred to as a Goddess.
- Infradivine
- one of four divine entities guarding one of the four areas of divinity. The Infradivines are: Khronos (Destruction and Dissolution); Gaea (Life and Existence); Stormgrid (Energy and Balance); and Kamali (Motion and Guidance)
- Ultradivine
- one of four primordial energies that serve as the source of all beings and energies. These are the top of the divine heirarchy. They are: Chaos (Nothingness) Isis (Existence) Moira (Motion) and Pantheolis (Energy)
- The Elements
- usually refers to the five Goddesses of the Natural Elements, rather than to the natural elements themselves: Antharis (Metal; Ruler of the Elements); Pyralis (Fire); Aquatica (Water); Lapis (Minerals); Coreolis (Air)
- polaris finalis
- meaning “Final Polarity” this is an action used only in the most dire of straits. It is the only known way for a Semidivine to die voluntarily, and it is completely eradicating. A Semidivine who invokes polaris finalis does not even go to the Afterlife; he or she is instead condemned to the depths of Chaos. A Final Polarity can be violent or not. It is a spell that drains the Semidivine of his or her entire powers (a “polarizing” event, so to speak).
- Patron
- (not to be confused with the Six Patrons, because They are different) Each Semidivine is sworn or avowed to at least one of the Incarnations of Pantheolis; it is from the Divine Patron(s) that the Semidivine derives his or her powers. In fact, all Magimasters have Patrons. But the obligations increase tenfold upon becoming a Semidivine, because then the Magimaster interacts with his or her Patron(s) on a very regular basis; the Patron(s) become(s) the center of the Semidivine’s entire existence, and is the first and foremost priority in that Semidivine’s life.
- Antidivine
- An Antidivine is a being that is an antithesis to any divine being — be it a Divinity, Semidivine, Demidivine, or even Infradivine — and often represents a complete absence of any divine power or energy. There is only one known Antidivine, and the energies or powers ascribed to him are usually called "blackmagics."
- blackmagics
- (always plural) Literally, blackmagics are the complete absence of Divine energy. They are the polar opposite of the Life-force and the energies that power all known life.
- Blood of Kings
- this refers to a genetic Arcane sensitivity in certain Oceanians, one that traces back to the Founders. It is the foundation of the Pledge of Oceania.
